Having been bought by Man City from Ajax in 2015 at the age of 15, I have been plagued by hamstring injuries, breaking down during training and games on four separate occasions. Most recently, I was sidelined from October 2016 until February 2017.

I heard about Aspire and decided to try them, as they came highly recommended. Since early February 2017, I have been working with David and Martin in the evenings at the amazing facility at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance. During the lockdown, I gained a significant amount of weight, reaching 199.1lbs, compared to my pre-Covid average of around 170lbs. On 3 January 2020, I decided it was time to make a change and was introduced to Dave. I began training with him twice a week. He provided valuable advice on diet, fasting, injuries, and workouts, especially as I continued training on my own when gyms reopened.

At my first workout, I couldn’t run the length of a football pitch without getting out of breath. I had always trained with weights but did little cardio. With Dave, we incorporated both, and now my running and overall fitness levels are better than ever.

I now run 4km four to five times a week and engage in other activities to maintain my fitness. Inevitably, training this much leads to occasional injuries, but Dave’s knowledge allows him to adapt sessions to work around injuries. Whether it’s training other areas or using different techniques to strengthen the injured parts, he ensures progress continues.

After 18 months, I went down to 145lbs. At 63 years old, I’m fitter now than I was as a teenager. I highly recommend Dave to anyone, but achieving results requires effort and discipline. Dave provides the guidance, but you need to put in the work too. That said, I still enjoyed carbs, chocolate, and alcohol in moderation.
